Kick up our morning routine with these delicious garlicky, cheesy, oh-so-easy to make bagels. Seriously, anyone can make these!
INGREDIENTS
2 1/4t active-dry yeast (1 package)
2t sugar
1 1/3c warm water
3 1/2c flour
1 1/2t salt
1t garlic powder
2c asiago, grated and split 1c/1c
INSTRUCTIONS
Add yeast and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer or a large bowl. Pour water over, stir together until the sugar dissolves then let sit for 5 minutes. Add the flour, salt, garlic powder and 1c of the asiago. Stir together, then knead for 8 minutes. It should be a smooth ball. Transfer it into a well greased bowl, cover and allow to double in size. (About an hour).
Preheat oven to 425°F. Dump the dough out on a clean surface. (I like to use the parchment-lined baking sheet that I’m going to bake them on so I have less clean up). Divide the dough into 8 relatively equal pieces, shape each piece into a ball and place them spaced out on baking sheet. Cover with a tea towel and let them sit for 5-10 minutes. Poke a hole through the center of each ball and give them a stretch to shape them into bagels. Cover again for about 5 minutes.
Bring a large pot of water to boil. With just 2-3 at a time, place them in the boiling water for 30 seconds, flip then 30 more seconds. Sprinkle a little of the remaining asiago on the parchment then place the boiled bagel on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the top with more asiago then bake for 18-20 minutes.
ENJOY!
