MESS FREE EVERYTHING BAGELS

I absolutely love an everything bagel, but making them at home? The seasoning blend ends up everywhere. So, I’ve incorporated all that delicious flavor into the dough in my ‘mess free’ version. A perfectly fluffy, chewy bagel loaded with everything bagel seasoning. So delicious, easy and mess free!

INGREDIENTS

2 1/4t yeast
2t sugar
1 1/3c warm water

4c bread flour
3T everything bagel seasoning (4T if you like a lot)
make sure its salted, if not, make sure to also add 1 1/2t salt

INSTRUCTIONS

In the bottom of a mixer bowl, whisk together yeast, sugar and warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes to bloom.

Sift in flour then sprinkle in everything bagel seasoning. Bring it all together then knead for 8 minutes. Dump into a well oiled bowl, top with a well oiled lid and let rise for about an hour, until it doubles in size.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a ball and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Let rest for 10 minutes.

Poke a hole through the center of each dough ball and stretch the hole out until the dough is in a bagel shape. Place back on the baking sheet and let rest for another 10 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425°F and bring a large pot of water to boil. Two to 3 at a time, place the bagels in the boiling water for 30 seconds, give them a flip then 30 more seconds. (If they sink at first thats ok as long as they eventually float.) Put them back on the baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes.
