A seriously seasonal pizza. Crispy sage leaves, crunchy hot sausage and thin sliced, end of summer zucchini on top of a deliciously perfect pizza. Absolutely amazing.
INGREDIENTS
1 pizza dough, room temp, either from the supermarket deli or give my recipe a try
1/2c your favorite marinara or tomato sauce
4oz fontina or mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4c parmesan or provolone, grated
1/2 zucchini, sliced thin
1/4lb hot sausage, crumbly and browned
8-10 fresh sage leaves
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 500°F with your pizza stone inside.
Heavily sprinkle a pizza peel with semolina or cornmeal. Stretch dough in a big circle and place on top of the semolina, give the peel a little shake to know that the dough isn’t sticking. If you don’t have a pizza stone just line a baking sheet with parchment and stretch your dough out in a circle on there.
Spread the tomato sauce on the dough, leaving about an inch around the rim for the crust. Sprinkle the cheeses over the tomato sauce.
Toss the zucchini with a little salt, pepper and drizzle of olive oil. Place on the cheese to cover then distribute the sausage and sage leaves so theres a little in every bite.
Slide onto the pizza stone and bake for about 10 minutes.
ENJOY!
